Hi Everyone! I’m back again doing the #8sunday with the Weekend Writing Warriors! I really enjoyed it the other weekend. I really loved reading the other snippets! This week’s excerpt from my debut novella The Trouble with Playing Cupid shows the scene where December’s best friend and agent tries to make up for her part in the failed love match.
“Yes, Clarissa? What is it?” She kept her voice cold.
“You can’t stay mad at me forever, you know.” Her best friend said anxiously.
“Well I’m just going to have to give it a good ol’ college try, now won’t I?”
“I’m sorry, okay? I shouldn’t have trusted Trace to handle that with tact and subtlety. It was my fault. Don’t blame Terrence.” Clarissa bleated.
“I didn’t. I knew it was you and that butthead from the start.”

I just love the term “butthead”. I use it in my upcoming New Years story, too. lol. It gave me a giggle even though I know that wasn’t the intention.
Before that I enjoyed the tension and her stubbornness. Sometimes you must hold onto a grudge.

Sometimes it’s hard to let go of your frustration. I’m guessing eventually it’ll happen. (“A little over on the eight…use a few comma’s with your modifiers and all will be well,” says Millie as the Moderator : ) Hope you have a fantastic Sunday!

I like December. I’m glad she’s making her friend suffer a little. Fun snippet!

the meddling friend. LOL They always have the need to try and ‘help’ regardless of what they are told. It was easy to see from that conversation that the two of them are good friends even when mad at each other.
fun 8

I love December’s (great name, btw) determination to stay mad. This conversation rings very real, I think we’ve all had a similar conversation with someone we care about and have gotten angry with. Something we can all relate to. Good job!

My motto is get over it but it’s great to give back and make her BFF suffer for a while. Sassy eight. I do like your style, Tamara.

Her friend has a long way to go before she’s forgiven apparently. Quite a true to life snippet!

I really enjoy the easy, and very real repartee between December and her friend Clarissa. Clarissa really has a hole to dig herself out of even if she really didn’t expect Trace’s public betrayal of December’s secret. Great snippet.
