Hey All! I’m back again doing the #8sunday with the wonderful  Weekend Writing Warriors!  I really loved reading the other snippets! This week’s excerpt from my debut novella The Trouble with Playing Cupid shows the scene when December calls up her best friend, Clarissa panicking over Tom taking her out on a date.

“Tom wants this to be our first date,We’re at the movies in Flushing!”

“Ooh, so you’re panicking in the restroom now right?”

“Yes! My heart won’t stop racing and he called me sweetheart and said I looked beautiful and what do I do, Clarissa? Do I run?”

“Why would you run? No! Focus! This is Tom Elmswood. The guy whose movies you made me watch a billion times just so you could memorize his face, remember?”

December nodded, even though Clarissa couldn’t see her through the phone.

  1. Delightful, Tamara. The dialogue took be back to my early years of dating the hot guy every girl wanted to go out with and sharing her feelings with her BFF. Fun and so real.

  2. LOL…she’s hiding out in the bathroom. Very fun, glad her friend is there to talk her down off the ledge

  3. This snippet was awesome! I love the way you describe how December nods on the phone while talking to her friend. I do that a lot when I’m talking on the phone, I’ve even caught myself waving my hands around while trying to describe something. Classic! I love this book!

  4. Very fun snippet. I love that she’s hiding in the bathroom, thinking about running. I hope Clarissa can talk her down.

  5. Love the communication between friends…it’s very real.

  6. You’ve definitely captured the first-date-freak-out moment! This was a lot of fun to read.

  7. I remember those days. 🙂 🙂 🙂 I was always the one panicking over the guy, the date, etc. My best friend was the one telling me to calm down, breathe, enjoy myself. Can’t wait to ready more. 🙂

  8. This was fun! I’m excited and anxious right along with her 🙂
