Tom’s harsh words comes back to bite him…Weekend Writing Warriors…#8Sunday…

Hey All! I’m back again doing the #8sunday with the wonderful  Weekend Writing Warriors!  I really loved reading the other snippets! This week’s excerpt from my debut novella The Trouble with Playing Cupid shows the scene where the press catches Tom off guard on the red carpet.

“So you didn’t have December in tears after you said and I quote, ‘The very idea of
being with her makes me sick to my stomach?'” asked a stocky, nondescript looking bald man
towards the back.
Tom faltered, the words of denial stuck in his throat. While he hadn’t used those
exact words, he did say something along those lines to his handler, Patrick, in the dressing
room after the show. Whoever overheard him must have told her, which in turn had made her
cry. Tom truly felt like pond scum. He had to find a way to make it right with her.

  1. No taking back, man. You can’t put the horse back in the burning barn. Super 8. So pleased with this!

  2. At the same time, if that’s really how he feels, better not to go back and play nice guy. Just leave the poor girl alone, she deserves better.

  3. Oh boy, that’s what happens when we say things without thinking about how things get around…I don’t know why he said whatever he said, but I hope he can find a way to explain it to her. Nice eight.

  4. Ooh you can just feel the “oh shit” moment. Great snippet.

  5. This line says a mouthful!! “Tom truly felt like pond scum”. Good 8! 🙂

  6. Oh that Tom, he definitely has to make it right! I’m so into this lovely story!
Hey what are those cool buttons on the side of your page? I can’t stop clicking. 😉

  7. the media…always doing something. That was a major foot-in-mouth moment, but it wasn’t meant to be heard by the general public. Should be interesting to see how he gets out of this.
