From the very first commercial, I was into the idea of this show so when it premiered I was watching. And it did not disappoint!

I love this show because Wynonna is a hot mess but she’s tough. She kicks ass, loves hard and she’s funny. Problem is her hotmessedness is why I want to strangle her each week. Wynonna is so impulsive she doesn’t think of the long term ramifications of what her impulsiveness creates. I’m happy that the show doesn’t shy away from commenting on how many times she screws stuff up. Which is ALOT. And that’s where Agent (I think he’s an agent??) Dolls comes in. He calls her on her b.s, secretly thinks she’s the bee’s knees but scowls when she’s looking and he’s the only one with one foot in reality in Purgatory. Dolls understands responsibility and productivity when everyone else seems to forget that there is this thing called LAWS and accountability.

Actual footage of Wynonna losing her gun for the billionth time.

I’m going to start keeping a count on how many times Wynonna loses that gun of hers. The most important gun in the war against demon/Revenants, Wyatt Earp’s gun. She either drops it in fright, shock or leaves it on the counter or hell, someone might  just grab it out of her hand.  It’s so infuriating! and the fact that her and Waverly never exchanges any kind of communication that would help them deal with the situation in a timely, more efficient manner, absolutely kills me.

Her little sister, Waverly found out the truth about Doc Holiday and her first stop wasn’t to call Wynonna ASAP and tell her, nope not in this little world. She also found out that she has a certain connection  with Bobo (the resident bad guy who isn’t that bad?) and she chose to stomp away and be frivolous. I just wish they would exchange information. I don’t blame Dolls for being grumpy and suspicious, I would be too, given who he’s working with. They literally leave him out of the loop EVERY TIME, so he has to sift through the wreckage to find out the truth every single episode.

Those Earp girls would drive anyone to drink as they spin their wheels until the next Revenant shows up and conveniently DOES NOT KILL THEM FOR REASONS UNKNOWN although they’re basically sitting ducks. P.S Doc Holliday is totally NOT TO BE TRUSTED!

I like Waverly, she’s sweet and spunky but she’s also a terrible spy and it’s just luck that no one has dragged her out from behind her hiding space and strangled her, just to teach Wynonna a lesson.

My face every time someone catches Willa in her hiding spot.

Still, I’m greatly enjoying Wynonna Earp as it gets stronger and better with each episode which seems to be the case with all the new SYFY original tv shows.

Exposed Secrets by April Nichols Baker

April Nichols Baker’s Exposed Secrets Out Now on Kindle!! 5 Star reviews!

exposed secrets 2

Thirty four year old Alexandria Marie Bell appears to have it all. She is beautiful and has started a highly successful law firm in Manhattan. The only thing missing is love. Finding a man is no problem. They are practically falling out of the sky. But she doesn’t want just any man. She wants Maxwell Pennington but that can never happen. He loves control almost as much as she does. Plus he is a Senior Partner in her law firm. To top it off Alex has too many ugly dark secrets that must never come to light. If they were to cross that line she runs the risk of Max learning who she really is and he would leave her anyway. It’s best to stay single and dream about the life that she will never have. Maxwell Pennington is sexy and brilliant. He could charm the panties off any women with the exception of one. Alex Bell. She wants him. That is not a secret but what he can’t figure out is why she is so determined to keep her distance. All he has to do is find a way to break through her walls. His luck with women has not always been the best. Partly due to his control issues and partly due to his choice of women. Alex is different though. She will not just allow him to control her and that is fine with him. Nothing turns him on more than a feisty woman. They would be perfect together. But there is more to Maxwell than meets the eye. He has secrets of his own.

My Review

I really liked the idea of Lanore’s world especially since I’m a huge urban fantasy fan. and with a diverse cast of characters? I’m already hooked. I really enjoyed the author’s vivid description of her gritty, harshly realistic underbelly of our world and the case of the monster baddy murdering people was fantastic. Kenya Wright’s dialogue is always on point. I may not love her heroine’s because they drive me crazy with their love of douchebag guys but you cannot fault the authors gift at what she does.  If I were you Lanore, I would get my head checked because both guys are pretty insane!

Diverse Book Tours : The Girl (The Sanctum Book #1) by Madhuri Blaylock

Book One of the Sanctum Trilogy: The Girl by Madhuri Blaylock is both my first book to review as a Diverse Book Tour Host (definitely check their site out to learn more about the wonderful work their doing) and the first book YA novel that I’ve read starring a multicultural protagonist.  Talk about an eye opening experience!!sanctum book 1 banner

‘The Girl’ is a YA Paranormal fantasy novel filled with magic, vampires, warriors, lots of juicy action, revenge and even political intrigue. It dares to poke holes in the mindset that many governments have where teenagers can join the military (The Sanctum in this instance) to fight and kill for them but they’re still not allowed to drink alcohol or make up their own mind. Due to this many soldiers find themselves fighting for the side they assumed was good but turned out that war or being the ruling class is not so black and white.

Which is exactly where we meet Ryker, Wyatt and his sister, Jools. All extremely talented warriors for the Sanctum and not a one older than 21. They make hard life or death choices for countless supernatural creatures that the Sanctum deem dangerous and yet they’re kept in the dark about so many other shady Sanctum dealings. One such nasty case leads them in the path of The Girl, Dev. She’s half angel, half demon and all badass, She’s also public enemy number 1 according to the Sanctum.

I’ll stop right there so I don’t give the whole book away but I urge you to read The Girl. It’s well written, evenly paced, thrilling AND intriguing. It’s a real page turner because you want to know MORE. You want the Sanctum to get whats coming to them. You want Dev and the gang to be the ones to take them down. And you really, really want to read this book!! And there’s good news too, THERE’S A SEQUEL called The Boy. Find the links below  for both and check it out! don’t forget to leave a review!!

ISBN: 9780991203406

Publisher: Amazon Digital Services

Pages: 408

Format: eBook (also available in paperback)

Genre: Paranormal

Release Date: November 2013

 Plot Summary:

The Sanctum, an all-powerful governing body founded by ten families, entrusted to maintain the peace amongst Magicals and ensure the ignorance of humans, has been corrupted by greed and savagery for generations, but is all Wyatt Clayworth has ever known.

A descendant of one of the Founding Families and Class A Warrior, Wyatt has always believed in the ways of The Sanctum, having grown up in the system and thrived under their leadership. A golden boy, renowned for his prowess and skill in battle, Wyatt has never questioned a mission or kill order until the night he crosses paths with a brutally injured and mysterious girl.

Scouring Central Park with his best friend and fellow Class A Warrior, Ryker Morrison, for the hybrid demon prophesied to bring an end to The Sanctum and destroy the world for Magicals and humans alike, Wyatt instead finds Dev and his whole life turns upside down. Told he was hunting a killing machine, hellbent on wreaking havoc and destruction upon all it encounters, Wyatt instead sees nothing more than a broken girl with haunted eyes and a bit of a death wish.

All Dev wants is for Wyatt to either kill her or leave her alone. When he refuses to do either, she finds herself being pulled into his life while being hunted by warriors everywhere she turns. Drawn to one another for reasons they cannot begin to explain to themselves, much less anyone else, Wyatt is determined to protect Dev and help her realize her mission to avenge the deaths of her family at the hands of The Sanctum. His abdication of his duties and his outright rejection of his responsibilities to The Sanctum create a maelstrom of events beyond anyone’s imagination.

This week’s Question:
Are you also a writer and what genre or did you ever consider writing? – Suggested by The Pegster Reads
I’m a writer and my preferred genre to write in is Contemporary and Fantasy. I started seriously writing again because of my Fanfiction addled years  writing and reading in the Glee,Merlin, Doctor Who, Law and Order UK fandoms. It changed my life (and my sleep cycle) and it fueled my desire to create stories again, something that I’d thought I’d lost for good after graduating.
Anyways, drop me a comment or a like, and I’ll follow you back if you follow me 🙂

Diverse Book Tours…We need more Diversity in books..ALL books!

Representation Matters!! I’ll say again and again until the day I die. It matters so much to see a character in a movie, on tv, in a book, in cartoons etc that looks like you, in some shape or form.

When I was growing up, I loved to read. I mean, I really, really loved to read but I always seemed to steer away from YA novels and romance novels because I couldn’t connect to them. None of the heroines were  described to look anything like me, or any of the other characters for that matter. I was a teenager looking to read about teenage things and I wanted representation but there weren’t very many options (Hell even as an adult it still gets a little dicey depending on the genre). That’s why the We Need Diverse Books movement is important. It means that another little girl or boy will be able to find a book with characters that they can truly relate too.

and Diverse Book Tours puts that plan into action. Writing and reading go hand in hand. By making writers accountable for bringing diversity into the literary world, we can ensure future generations of readers have characters that represent them to fall in love with. From People of color, to the physically challenged and everyone in between, we all deserve to be seen and heard.

I’m not a book blogger usually, but I’m joining this revolution and I think you should too. If you’re a blogger, reviewer or author, you can sign up to be part of the Diverse Book Tours that’s that happening on September 1st 2014. Check them out at their website http://diversebooktours.com/ for more info on how to be a Book Tour host!

I’m in! Are you?

Meet My Characters Blog Hop…The Trouble with Playing Cupid

Which is out now on Amazon Kindle Internationally!  The Trouble with Playing cupid is  my first book.  It’s  a sweet, lighthearted romance novel about two people who hoped for love but weren’t expecting it and the start of their burgeoning romance with a little unasked for help from friends.
1) What is the name of your character? Is he/she fictional or a historic person?
The Leads in my book are December Brown and Tom Elmswood. They’re strictly figments of my overactive imagination.
2) When and where is the story set? It’s set in current times in my hometown, New York City mainly. But being Celebrities, they jet-set set around from Vancouver to Tokyo and places in between.
3) What should we know about him/her? They’re both lonely souls who’d given up on ever finding true love, even though they’re both surrounded by the glitz and glamour of being celebrities.
4) What is the main conflict? What messes up his/her life? Meddlesome well-meaning friends turn their worlds upside down by trying to play matchmakers, unfortunately one of them chose to do so in a very public way!
5) What is the personal goal of the character? Tom and December were simply trying escape the tabloid gossip but find love unexpectedly along the way.
6) Is there a working title for this novel, and can we read more about it? The Trouble with Playing Cupid and you can download a free 4 chapter sample at Noisetraders.com
7) When can we expect the book to be published? It’s already out now on Kindle for Amazon.com and Smashwords.com !

Thank you, Chelle Cordero  for tagging me. You can meet her character at http://chellecordero.blogspot.com/2014/08/this-is-sudah-garratti-on-meet-my.htm
