Diverse Book Tours Presents The Savage Fortress by Sarwat Chadda

dbt presents sav fortress

Plot Summary:

The gods and monsters of India roar to life in this thrilling fantasy!

After three weeks of vacation, Ash Mistry is ready to leave the heat and dust of India behind him. Then he discovers a gleaming gold arrowhead hidden in the sands—a weapon used to defeat evil King Ravana in legend.

At least, Ash is pretty sure it’s only a legend . . .

But when Lord Alexander Savage comes after Ash, the legends are suddenly way too real. Savage commands an army of monstrous shapechangers called rakshasas, who want only to seize the arrowhead and restore Ravana to power. As they hunt Ash through magnificent fortresses and brutal deserts, he must learn to work with a powerful rakshasa girl named Parvati, and find the strength within himself to fight on no matter what. Because this isn’t just a battle to stop the end of the world. It’s a battle to stop the end of reality as we know it.

No pressure.

Biography

Sarwat Chadda has lived and traveled throughout the world, from China to Guatemala. He’s been lost in Mongolia, abandoned at a volcano in Nicaragua and hidden up a tree from a rhino in Nepal. Not to mention being detained by Homeland Security in the US and chased around Tibet by the Chinese police. Maybe he just has that sort of face.

Anyway, now he’s trying to settle in one place and stay out of trouble. Hence his new career as a writer. It’s safe, indoors and avoids any form of physical danger.

Throughout his travels, Sarwat has soaked up the myths, legends and cultures of far away places. Now, with the Ash Mistry series, he aims to bring these unfamiliar tales of ten-headed demons and blue-skinned heroes back home and put them beside the exploits of Achilles and Thor. His heroes are Prince Rama and the demon-slaying Kali. Isn’t it about time you met them too?

Unlike the zombies that shambled around on set, the real deal don’t follow a script.

At the majorly important birthday party of her boss’ daughter, Dia experiences a series of potentially career-ruining social disasters. Before the night is over, she soon discovers that the possible cancellation of her show isn’t her biggest worry.

Armed with what they can find around Bixby Studios, Dia and her friends band together to find out why everyone they know has begun popping up as gray-skinned, black-eyed, limb-nomming zombies. With the ailment spreading, time is running out before Dia is swept up in Hollywood’s latest trend.

My Review of Dia of the Dead by Brit Brinson

A fun, easy read and I really enjoyed it! especially since I’m a huge zombie fan! Dia of the Dead was great from start to finish.  The titular Dia was a likable character and to the author’s credit maintained that likeable personality throughout the book even when faced with some terrible situations. Which may sound like small potatoes but I assure you, is quite important and increasingly rare. The very clear origins of the zombies only lends to the solid world that was built.

How the zombie virus spreads is also more imaginative than most YA novels are especially because the author explains how it happens. All of the characters are very well developed and the plot is very exciting and surprising. The author doesn’t go the easy route in developing her story and you will be surprised at who gets zombified and who doesn’t.

No spoilers but the action scenes and the development of Dia’s character were the best parts of the story. Dia of the Dead is a zombie story that stays true to its audience without dumbing things down and I can’t tell Brit Brinson how grateful I am for that, but Thank you, Dear Author nonetheless!!  If you love The Walking Dead and my personal favorite Z-Nation then this is the book for you!!

Tom has to deal with the fall out of his words … Weekend Writing Warriors #8sunday…

Hey guys! I can’t believe its Sunday already and we’re back again doing the #8sunday with the wonderful  Weekend Writing Warriors!  I really loved reading the other snippets! This week’s excerpt from my debut novella The Trouble with Playing Cupid shows Tom’s lament about the whole talk show disaster with December Brown.

Tom couldn’t help himself; he kept switching channels to hear more opinions about
the ‘event’. He wanted to murder Trace. Every journalist at tonight’s award show would be asking him about December and her text. The media made him out to be dispassionate and uninterested, which made him feel like the scum of the earth on top of it all. He’d never even heard of the woman before last night, why was this happening to him?

Damn that Trace Randall.

Authors with Flair…Neva Squires Rodriguez interview

Have you ever read a book so emotionally charged, so captivating that you think to yourself, how did the author come up with this plot? or I’d love to pick the author’s brain? Well here’s your chance…

Neva Squires-Rodriguez, the author of the riveting Liliana series, has given me the inside scoop on what makes her tick and how her twisted mind created such an electrifying debut novel. (Don’t forget to follow her on Twitter @NevaRodriguez22

In less than 30 words tell us about Liliana.

Liliana” is a hot and steamy romance that starts off with a bang and is filled with deception, unexpected twists, and endless suspense!

The Liliana series is in 3 books, how long did it take you to write the first novel?
Yes, book one took nearly fifteen years. I kept putting it off due to raising my children, going back to school and ultimately laziness.

Why did you write it? Or better yet where did the plot idea come from?
The idea came from a re-occurring dream. Every night I tried to push the dream further, until finally I decided to write it down on paper.

When you decided to become a writer, why didn’t you choose a pseudonym?
I didn’t choose a pseudonym because I wanted everyone to know who I was. I wanted to be remembered and I wanted my readers to know where my roots were. I added my maiden name in because I wanted to show my readers that I’m multi-cultural.

When did you realize that you wanted to be a writer professionally?
I actually realized that I wanted to be a professional writer when I was in fifth grade. I entered a writing contest with a friend and our story won first place. A team of actors played out our story in front of the school. It was definitely a memorable experience for me.

If you could only pick two people, living or dead, famous or not, to read your book, who would they be and why?

Sor Juana Ines De La Cruz and Audre Lorde, because these are two of the female writers that I respect and enjoy the writing of most. I would definitely want to find out what feedback they had for me.

Which is worse, failing or never trying?

Definitely never trying. When you think that you are going to fail, the worst that can happen is that you can be right? You could fail, you already know that and have prepared yourself for that. You might as well try and confirm your failure. (A little English humor there.) As an author, I have failed numerous times. I must have sent out at least fifty query letters and it would have been so easy to give up and crawl back under my rock, but God inspired me to push on and hey, check it out, I found a great publisher who valued my twisted ideas. Always give it a try and never give up-never.
