My Review

I really liked the idea of Lanore’s world especially since I’m a huge urban fantasy fan. and with a diverse cast of characters? I’m already hooked. I really enjoyed the author’s vivid description of her gritty, harshly realistic underbelly of our world and the case of the monster baddy murdering people was fantastic. Kenya Wright’s dialogue is always on point. I may not love her heroine’s because they drive me crazy with their love of douchebag guys but you cannot fault the authors gift at what she does.  If I were you Lanore, I would get my head checked because both guys are pretty insane!

My Review

I truly liked this book. J.L. Campbell is obviously a very gifted writer because I was hooked from the very start. It was so heartbreaking at points, especially the tragedy that happened for such young children. it was awful but the author really portrayed it well. Ma’am was a horrible mother and wife but she was such a complicated character that I wanted to learn more about her frame of mind from the time she met Maxwell. It’s easy to call her selfish but I still wanted to delve deeper into her character. Which is my same feeling for Maxwell, I wanted to know even more about him and what made him make the choices he made like staying with a woman who obviously disliked his daughter, and having even more children with her.

Even at the end though and Christine got everything she wanted to be happy, I was still so sad for the rest of the kids 😦 It was a great book thoughand I would highly recommend it!

My Review

I love mythology fantasy books and Sabina Khan’s realm of the goddess did not disappoint. Filled with Indian gods and goddesses and angsty teenagers in a gripping, fast paced plot to save the world, what else could you ask for?? Well besides MORE!! good news, this is the first of a series so we lucked out!

I love take charge of your destiny heroines in YA because I want the younger generation to find themselves emulating that sort of mindset to not just let things happen to you, to be part of it all.

I hope the main character, Calli learns as she grows into the story, to not continue to be foolhardy yet brave. Harry potter taught us all that to be courageous and kind is only half of the battle, you need a support system and also to do your research on your enemy and the people around you. So take note, Calli! Trust but verify!

An Arrangement of Love by Kenya Wright

Plot Summary:

He kissed me. And not just any kiss. He kissed me like he owned me, as if he bought me last night and

my orgasm was the payment. His tongue didn’t explore my mouth instead it taunted me, gliding in and out between my lips in a rhythm that reminded me of hot sex. He shifted his hand to the back of my head and trapped me to him. My bag and its contents dropped to the floor. . .What would you do for six figures?

Billionaire Chase Stone offers Jasmine a six-figure job that requires a full-time commitment in his office as well as his bed. If only she knew that before she agreed, then life would’ve been easier. It’s not that he’s unattractive. Jasmine just didn’t

graduate from Harvard with honors so she could be some rich guy’s over paid mistress. What’s even more repulsing is that he lives with three women and wants her to be the fourth.

Not going to happen!

But Chase won’t give up, and Jasmine won’t give in. Someone’s going to have to change because the more they meet, the more something thick, hot, and electric bridges between them, until neither can breathe or think.

My Review

Okay, I really truly enjoyed this book especially in this type of drama which I am biased against. Anyway here’s my review.

So when I first started this book by page 4, I’d nearly thrown my kindle across the room and out of the window atleast 6 times! as I said about the other Kenya Wright book I’d only just read (No Ordinary Love) I am not a huge fan of the alpha male in romance novels and I generally despise the 50 shades of gray type books via Billionaire and naive woman tropes, so when I started this book and saw how cruel and nasty Chase was talking to Jasmine at her interview, no less and the fact that she was accepting it, and taking it and then trying to rationalize it? ICK. but I forced myself to carry on because I hate quitting books that I promised I would read and review.

And I’m so glad that I did. After the horrible treatment the main protagonist recieved at the hands of, Chase and his cronies I thought she was going to be a pushover. but she WAS NOT. it was such a wonderful surprise!!! She had all the backbone that not one single other heroine of these types of stories had and I desperately needed that. It was great. by the end, Chase was not an alpha where she was concerned and that made me so very happy.

By the end of the book I really, really liked them together, the author made their romance sweet and sexy, believable and mindblowing all at once (because that living situation? was a giant WTF?!! talk about a ticking time bomb and we can’t forget that whole super creepy but still oddly bitter sweet romance between her best friend and her brother,)

I would highly recommend this book who hated 50 shades of gray as much as I did.

No Ordinary Love is a dark erotic romance from bestselling erotica author Kenya Wright.

My Review

Can I just say right now that THIS BOOK RIGHT HERE, No Ordinary Love, put 50 shades of Grey to absolute SHAME! like this would actually make a fantastic movie. the scenery, the backdrop is all just so gothic, and glamorous. The dark underbelly of the sex industry and the organized crime are the darkly gothic aspects, yet the courtship and the whole city in Japan was enviable, and glittery. (I want that damned diamond dress like what? give that to me right now thankyou) the story of Kenji and Nyomi is infinitely more interesting as well as better written than anything that happened between the pages of 50 shades of Grey!  I mean talk about control freak and a silly, danger courting chick that needed someone to drag her away!

I’m not a huge fan of BDSM books nor even the alpha male hero of the book since I generally don’t consider them heroes and I find the whole controlling dude thing scary as hell. so on that front, I’d say they were both crazy as hell and I want them both to be locked up LOL Kenji is absolutely screwed in the head and Nyomi just as much even more so.  Her back and forthing was only half sane since the rest of the time she was just making me want to strangle her for real. Still I could see how their backgrounds could make two people with such tattered mentalities and that much I had to give to the author, Kenya Wright. Their chemistry was scorching hot and thoroughly believable. not once did I feel like I was reading an amateur sexy times novel. no frigging way! Kenya Moore has a gift. and its a very saucy one. I had to fan myself a couple of times in the book, and my eyes brows were raised in a very school marmish way for most of it. I’m pretty sure I clutched my pearls throughout the entire book. If you want steamy, complicated, messy, raunchy romance? then don’t bother looking at anyone else, Kenya Wright is definitely the one!

I nearly forget to thank the author for giving so much insight into Japanese culture that I didn’t have before including but not limited to the very private sex industry. WOW! what an eye opener.

Diverse Book Tours presents my review of Thelonious Legend’s Sins of the Father

sotf announcement banner

This was going to be a special year for the Parker sisters. Eve was going to dominate in the classroom and on the basketball court.

Gwen was going to make the starting five and go down in history as the greatest prankster ever. Ana was going to do as little as possible.

But without warning, all three sisters gain extraordinary abilities that defy science… powers that come with a cost. Now all they want to do is make it through the school year without drawing any undue attention, while racing to find a cure before the side effects of their new abilities kill them. Eve’s temperament, Gwen’s fondness for pranks, and Ana’s predilection for money, however, are challenges they must overcome to achieve their goals. Because if they can’t, they’re dead…

My Review

So I literally just finished reading this book, not even an hour ago so everything is very fresh in my mind. Therefore I may have to come back and change somethings once I’ve had time to truly mull this amazing book over.

This is the authors debut novel and WOW he comes straight out of the gate rearing to go.It was fast paced, energetic drama from the first page to the last and I know the rest of the series will only get better as Thelonious Legend’s writing style improves and evolves.

I loved that the 3 sisters were so popular, despite some of their claims. I mean they had tons of friends, and were part of so much after school sports groups that I felt a little jealous!  I’m not a sports person so I didn’t know what most of the stuff was regarding Basketball, Football, Tae Kwon Do and I swear there was more! I think the author could go ahead and skimp on those details next time LOL.

Messing around with all those school kids took time away from the insanely interesting plot going on. which I felt was sometimes rushed because of the time skips. I wanted to know how the girls found out about Dave, or how they would have reacted to their father (first hand) when they found out, how their parents worked it out because that was such a huge breach of trust on Barry’s side, I wanted to know more about Elizabeth’s situation, lots more should have been devoted to Ana since she was the brains of the outfit and I felt Eve was too limiting because she was so self involved. Also the girls did not talk like middle schoolers, they were high schoolish and I think I would have believed it more if they had been. They were so much more advanced in many aspects. I definitely wanted to read more about the baddies and the reasoning behind their mindsets and Dave’s reasoning for stealing it in the first place and so much more, hopefully that will be in the rest of the series that I can’t wait to read!!

So I guess I did enjoy reading about all of the characters and their backstories because it was wonderfully diverse and well written. It was all the sports talk that kept dragging me back out of the story while I clung onto the plot for dear life. I also loved the book cover and I think this book would be a fantastic tv series especially on Nick Teens or the Disney Channel.

Great Job, Thelonious!
