INTERVIEW WITH THE AUTHOR MILLENIA BLACK

1- In less than 30 words, tell us about your book.

Sure! RAINDROPS ON ROSES is Book One of my brand new Favorite Things

Trilogy, featuring a razor-sharp love triangle you won’t soon forget!

2- Why did you write it? Or better yet where did the plot idea

come from?

I’m all for a good love triangle. I mean, who isn’t, right? So I decided to explore

the neurosis some women experience when the love of her life falls in love with

someone else. As you probably know, it can get pretty ugly sometimes. Some

women simply can’t let go.

3- Do you think life experiences, research or just your

imagination makes you a better a writer?

Actually, I think it’s a combination of all three, especially in developing the skill

for writing engaging and memorable stories.

4- If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do?

Hmm…the very first thing? Book an extended stay in one of the world’s most

luxurious spa retreats and be completely MIA for a few weeks straight!

5- When did you realize that you wanted to be a writer

professionally?

I had no interest in being a writer until I was in college. A professor gave a

poetry assignment and we had to read it aloud in a presentation to the class.

Everyone’s reaction to that poem awakened the writing bug in me, which led to

my writing a short story that would later become my first novel, The Great

Pretender!

6- How did you come up with the title?

Well, I’ve always loved the Favorite Things song from “The Sound of Music” and

one day the idea for a chain of high-end boutique hotels popped into my head.

One Hollywood legend and three young hearts in love later—the Favorite Things

Trilogy was born!

7- Where can fans contact you? Are you on Facebook or Twitter?

Do you have a website?

I certainly do! Fans can link up with me on all of the above! I love hearing

from readers and I can’t WAIT to hear what they think of RAINDROPS ON

ROSES!

8- If you could only pick two people, living or dead, famous or

not, to read your book, who would they be and why?

Hmm…that’s a tough one. But I’d have to give one of the most obvious answers

imaginable and say Oprah for sure—I’m pretty sure she’d be up for reading

about a spicy love triangle! And for the second pick I’d go with fellow author

Jackie Collins—it’s no doubt right up her alley!

9- In one sentence, what advice would you give to an aspiring

author?

Best advice in one sentence: Make sure you’re actually a good writer…and never

stop improving your craft.

10- What would you name the autobiography of your life?

Don’t think I’d ever write one, but if I did I’d probably call it: A LIVING DREAM.

Teaser 2

No Ordinary Love is a dark erotic romance from bestselling erotica author Kenya Wright.

My Review

Can I just say right now that THIS BOOK RIGHT HERE, No Ordinary Love, put 50 shades of Grey to absolute SHAME! like this would actually make a fantastic movie. the scenery, the backdrop is all just so gothic, and glamorous. The dark underbelly of the sex industry and the organized crime are the darkly gothic aspects, yet the courtship and the whole city in Japan was enviable, and glittery. (I want that damned diamond dress like what? give that to me right now thankyou) the story of Kenji and Nyomi is infinitely more interesting as well as better written than anything that happened between the pages of 50 shades of Grey!  I mean talk about control freak and a silly, danger courting chick that needed someone to drag her away!

I’m not a huge fan of BDSM books nor even the alpha male hero of the book since I generally don’t consider them heroes and I find the whole controlling dude thing scary as hell. so on that front, I’d say they were both crazy as hell and I want them both to be locked up LOL Kenji is absolutely screwed in the head and Nyomi just as much even more so.  Her back and forthing was only half sane since the rest of the time she was just making me want to strangle her for real. Still I could see how their backgrounds could make two people with such tattered mentalities and that much I had to give to the author, Kenya Wright. Their chemistry was scorching hot and thoroughly believable. not once did I feel like I was reading an amateur sexy times novel. no frigging way! Kenya Moore has a gift. and its a very saucy one. I had to fan myself a couple of times in the book, and my eyes brows were raised in a very school marmish way for most of it. I’m pretty sure I clutched my pearls throughout the entire book. If you want steamy, complicated, messy, raunchy romance? then don’t bother looking at anyone else, Kenya Wright is definitely the one!

I nearly forget to thank the author for giving so much insight into Japanese culture that I didn’t have before including but not limited to the very private sex industry. WOW! what an eye opener.

Authors with Flair interview with Charmaine Gordon

I adore Charmaine Gordon! There I said it! She’s warm, zany and an absolute legend in her own right. Not to mention that she’s the author of 17 fantastic novels that are geared to the over 50’s mature romantic suspense readers. (seriously you should check them out!) Lucky for me, Charmaine agreed to do a fun interview to talk about her new book in her River’s Edge Series called Help Wanted (and also to try and get a peek behind the scenes on what makes her tick)!

Charmaine -10 sATURATED_pp8x10g-72y

Tell us about  Help Wanted:

Steve and Sally Atwood have some big adjustments to make when they move to River’s Edge. Steve has lost his career in the corporate world and finds work painting houses. Sally flings off her apron and pursues her lifelong dream to be a reporter in the small town with a big heart, where the motto is ‘Kindness to Strangers’.

Afraid he is losing Sally to a more exciting world, Steve panics, but despite Sally’s lecherous new boss, together they rediscover all the love of their thirty-five years together and the excitement that brings

Where did the plot idea come from?

When I wrote Housebroken- Book One in the River’s Edge Series, I realized the story dealt with empty nest syndrome and what becomes of the husband and wife when the kids move away. And then I needed a follow-up story. Help Wanted is what happens right after the couple moves to a smaller home in a new town and their lives change. There is humor in both stories, lots of romance and angst as the Atwood’s sort out their feelings.

If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do?

Tap dance on the table the way I used to as an actor in NYC and then take care of my family because they always care for me.

When did you realize that you wanted to be a writer professionally

When, sadly I lost my good voice to spasmodic dysphonia about ten years ago, I had to leave my acting career behind. Creative juices still flowed and a friend suggested I try writing. After all I’d read scripts for many years, worked on daytime drama, movies, watched directors, knew how stories came to life so why not. And I wrote a book. Sent out query letters, received rejections but actors are accustomed to rejection-no biggie- and then Vanilla Heart Publishing and I crossed paths due to the kindness of Chelle Cordero who read my book. The rest, as we say, is history. Because Kimberlee Williams believed in me, I believed in me. Book after book, novellas, long/short stories and mature romances. There isn’t a day that goes by without writing and I love telling a story.

If you could only pick two people, living or dead, famous or not, to read your book, who would they be and why?

My Mom who passed on at age fifty would have been so proud to know I had the courage to move from homemaker to spread my wings and become an actor and now a writer. She came from an era where women stayed in their niche taking care of home and children. She remains famous to me. And then my first husband, Bud, who died young. We shared so much in our thirty eight years of a happy marriage but this is the one part he missed, his wife as an author. And he so loved to read.

Do you think Life experiences, research or just your imagination makes you a better a writer?

Combine them all and you’ve hit the jackpot. Acting experience, imagination and life. It all adds up.

What would you name the autobiography of your life?

Enter into my Imagination. Needs work but what the hey!

In one sentence, what advice would you give to an aspiring author?

If there’s a story inside you, SPILL it. Each day write something. And never give up, rejection  or not. Go for the gold. You’ll be rewarded. It happened to me. It can happen to you. Best wishes.

OOPS! Way more than one sentence.

Where can your fans contact you and find your books?

Hey All! I’m back again doing the #8sunday with the wonderful  Weekend Writing Warriors!  I really loved reading the other snippets! This week’s excerpt from my debut novella The Trouble with Playing Cupid shows the scene when Tom and December discuss his phone call with his estranged mother.

“I think so. I think I’m still in shock though. My mother was always this elusive figure in my life and now she wants to be part of it. I didn’t think I’d be so forgiving, you know? But everyone deserves a second chance right?”

“Yes they do. Well nearly everyone. But yes your mom certainly does.”

Authors with Flair…Adrienne Ruvalcaba interview

Adrienne Ruvalcaba‘s The Prostitute’s Daughter is a gripping, intense, edgy and yet sweet novel. How does one book accomplish all of that? Perhaps it’s a reflection of its author and all the layers of her personality?  Luckily for me, she allowed me to interview her in all her mysterious glory…

In less than 30 words, tell us about The Prostitute’s Daughter?

The Prostitute’s Daughter is the story of a man who loves a woman who doesn’t believe in love. He loves her even when she isn’t capable of loving herself.

How long did it take you to write it?

It took me five years to write this book. I wrote it in my spare time while I was dealing with a things, including the end of an abusive marriage, going to engineering school full time while single parenting two small children, working, and coming to grips with serious health issues and a subsequent diagnosis of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus.

Why did you write it? or better yet where did the plot idea come from?

The plot idea came from my intimate experience with survivors of abuse. At a young age, I witnessed a very dear loved one go through unspeakable abuse. I also witnessed this person’s metamorphosis into a completely different person. This person never received the love they needed and deserved, and, as a result, they never healed properly. I too am a survivor of abuse, but I was able to find peace and healing through love and support. The redeeming power of love is sometimes the only way to drive out certain kinds of darkness in one’s soul. The Prostitute’s Daughter is a story that captures that concept and gives it an emotionally fulfilling little fairytale twist.

When it’s all said and done, will you have said more than you’ve done?

I’m definitely more of a doer than a talker. I’m a person of few spoken words, but I’m very good at plodding along like a machine and accomplishing one small, manageable task after another. I’m all about the daily grind.
